Weight and Dimensions Restrictions

City of Philadelphia Standard Special Hauling Permit

A City of Philadelphia Standard Special Hauling Permit is required when traveling on any city street, state route, or interstate highway in the City of Philadelphia and the vehicle and/or load is:

  • over 40'-0" long as a single vehicle;
  • over 60'-0" long as  a combination vehicle;
  • over 70'-0" long as a combination transporting articles that are non-divisible as to length;
  • over 8'-0" wide (8'-6" for non-divisible loads operating on highways having a width of 20'-0" or more);
  • over 13'-6" high;
  • over 80,000 pounds or the maximum gross vehicle weight.

A City of Philadelphia Super Load Special Hauling Permit is required when traveling on any city street, state route, or interstate highway in the City of Philadelphia and the vehicle and/or load is:

  • over 160'-0" long;
  • over 16'-0" wide;
  • over 16'-0" high;
  • over 201,000 pounds.
