Gardena (CA) Oversize/Overweight Permit And Regulations

Weight and Dimension Restrictions

It is unlawful to move any load which exceeds the width, height, length or weight limits set forth in California Vehicle Code (Oversize Load) over any public place (street) without first obtaining a permit from the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. This permit requirement also applies to house moving.

Oversize Loads

1. Height over 17'-11"

• Pilot Car Required;
• Night Move Required - 11 pm to 5 am;
• City must check traffic signals and approve;
• City will check route once load has passed;
• 48 hour notice to Police Department upon issuance of permit.

2. Width 12' or Less

• 24 hour notice to Police Department upon issuance of permit over 12';
• 48 hour notice to Police Department upon issuance of permit over 14'-11";
• Pilot Car Required;
• Night Move Required - 11 pm to 5 am;
• City will check route once load has passed;
• 48 hour notice to Police Department upon issuance of permit. 

3. Length over 110'

• Pilot care required;
• Night move required - 11 pm to 5 am;
• City will check route once load has passed;
• 48 hour notice to Police Department upon issuance of permit.
