Weight and Dimension Restrictions

A transportation permit shall be obtained from the City of Buena Park to operate or move a vehicle or combination of vehicles or special mobile equipment or size or weight of vehicle or load exceeding the maximums specified in the California Vehicle Code (CVC) and the Caltrans Transportation Permit Manual. This permit is valid only for moving on assigned City highways and Interstate/State Route crossings under the jurisdictions unless otherwise specified on this permit. Except as specifically provided herein, the requirements of the CVC, including vehicle registration requirements, signing (CVC 27900) and other applicable laws, must be compiled with in all particulars.

Variances are required for all loads over 14' wide and 15'6" high.
Night moves may be required for variance loads.
A pilot car is required if load width exceeds lane width.

Traffic Safety

Permittee shall respect the right and safety of the traveling public at all times. When passing or being passed, no portion of equipment or vehicle shall extend beyond the centerline of the pavement or traveled way.

Bridges

Where bridges and roads are of insufficient width to comply with three above, flagman shall be provided to warn and direct traffic.

Night Moving

When moving is done at night, sufficient light and flagman shall be employed to protect and warn traffic from all directions. If flagmen are required to worn and direct traffic, it shall be done in accordance with Section 1598 and 1599 of the California Division of Occupational Safety Order and Caltrans "Manual of Traffic Controls".
