Simplify Your Oversize/Overweight Loads
For All State Regulations, See:
Movement of any oversize load shall be made only during daylight hours, except for the following: (1) a permitted combination unit that does not exceed 110'. (2) a single unit that does not exceed 75', (3) a load not exceeding 10' wide on Interstate highways only, and (4) escorted vehicle/loads , more than 10' wide on interstates; more that 8,5' on primary or secondary roads. Additional restrictions apply to vehicle/loads in excess of 18'.
All oversize loads require and "Oversize Load" sign on the front and rea of the vehicle/load: Size: 5' wide, 10 " high Lettering: 8" high, 1" brush stroke Background: Yellow
For all over-width vehicle/loads, red or fluorescent orange flags, 12" square mounted at: (1) four corners of the vehicle load, (2) at any extremity that is wider than the front/rear of the vehicle/load, and (3) rear overhang of 4' or greater: one flag if less than 2' wide, two flags if greater than 2' wide.
All over width loads require amber clearance lights on each front corner and red lights on the rear of the load, as well as on each extremity or projection. An amber rotating, flashing or strobe light is required n the vehicle. Over-length loads require a red lamp and reflector on each rear corner of extremity of any rear overhang.
