Alaska Oversize and Overweight Fines and Penalties

A person commits a violation subject to the penalty specified in AS 12.55.035 (b)(7) if violates a provision of an overweight or oversize vehicle permit issued under AS 19.10.060 violates a weight, load, or size limitation established under AS 19.10.060 or a regulation adopted under AS 19.05.020 , AS 19.10.060 , or AS 45.75.050. Notwithstanding the maximum fine for a violation a person who does one or more of these acts shall pay a penalty. If the vehicle is one thousand and one to two thousand pounds overweight the fine is a hundred dollars, from two thousand and one to four thousand pounds overweight the fine is seven cents for each pound over the weight limitation, from four thousand and one to six thousand pounds overweight nine cents for each pound over the weight limitation, from six thousand and one to ten thousand pounds overweight twelve cents for each pound over the weight limitation, ten thousand and one and more fifteen cents for each pound over the weight limitation.
