Simplify Your Oversize/Overweight Loads
The Department of Transportation may issue special permits authorising the movement of vehicles or combinations of vehicles exceeding the State weight limits. Though all vehicles and loads are eligible for consideration, specific consideration is given to loads that cannot be disassembled readily (S.C. Code Ann. §57-3-130). Multitrip permits may be issued by the Department of Transportation for overweight non-divisible loads (S.C. Code Ann. §57-3-150).
Non-divisible loads: up to 14 wide, 13’6 high and 90,000 lbs gross weight on 5 or more axles (not to exceed 40,000 lbs. per tandem).
